Education is indispensable towards creating a secured future. It is a tool for economic & societal advancements and aids in individuals’ emotional and psychological growth, thereby ameliorating the community as a whole. Quality education is a distant dream for thousands of poverty-stricken children in slums.
There have been constant efforts from the government as well as many private organizations to aid underprivileged children get access to trained faculty and course books, and help them break the cycle of poverty, illiteracy, and unemployment. One such organization is Key Management Group Inc., which is working hard towards universalizing elementary education as of paramount importance and strives to provide education to poverty-stricken children.
KMG has been operating this pioneering initiative – PRAYAS, as a part of their CSR program. KMG has partnered with Gyan Kunj, an education-centered NGO based in Bawana, to make this project a success. Prayas proceeds intending to reduce dropout rates and provide high-quality and concept-oriented education to slum children. This initiative aims to empower the impoverished children by providing basic education, sewing classes & digital literacy, and generating social awareness. Through this program, we presently engage 200+ students in the JJ colony of Bawana.
We are looking forward to implementing similar campaigns in Shahbad Dairy, around 10 kms from the Bawana center. Shahbad Dairy is a highly crime-prone locality, and we have decided to open a tutorial class at this center to engage more and more children in meaningful and productive activities, keeping them away from the negative influences.
Providing high-quality education unleashes the true potential lying within the slum children, thereby raising their self-esteem, building social skills, and producing well-rounded individuals. These slum children can, in turn, enlighten their families and enhance their way of livelihood. Henceforth, this campaign helps underprivileged slum children lead a better life and contribute to the country’s socio-economic growth.
